I tend to think as TR stated, "Max speed and enegery does not always equate to more effective."
My thinking; A firearm is made to opperate in a range. HP loads can cause a firearm to have a much shorter life. If I needed a hot 40 S&W load, I would probably go to a 10mm. It would just keep things more simple.
