Putting the money issue into perspetive; Thompson has spent less than $1 million in his "exploratory efforts", while Mitt Romney has spent a whopping $32 million over the same amount of time. Giuliani has spent $17 million since the beginning of his campaign. In my estimation Thompson got the biggest bang for his buck.
Going forward; Romney has $4 million on hand while Giuliani has $17 million on hand and McCain $21 million on hand. Last figures I saw Thompson had raised $3.5 million. In reality he is in the same ballpark as Romney currently as far as treasury goes, and not an insurmountable amount behind Giuliani. There are going to be some donors that will be switching affiliation with the current poll numbers, bolstered by Thompson's actual entering of the race.
In my humble opinion money is not nearly as important in this very unorthodox game plan of Thompson's. His poll numbers are higher than two of the top tier candidates and he did it all with no money.
