Of course I wouldn't want to be seen on the same stage or associated in any way with the other Rep runners.
After joking that it was harder to get on The Tonight Show instead of a Presidential debate in this early stage of the campaign...Fred's response to this exact question was along the lines of the debates being more of a chance for media to get sound bytes of candidates making fun of each other when asked about issues affecting Americans. These debates really do little to let the people of the United States know what direction their future leader is willing to point the nation.
Further, he said he would welcome the opportunity to sit down with any other candidate, one on one, and take a couple of hours to discuss (and debate) views on a single issue. More than a sound byte, more than a 30 second blip.
I thought it was a smart answer.
