The quality appears to be a bit lower and the QC somewhat worse.

I might consider using their gear on an airsoft gun, but I would not use it on a real weapon I planned to use on a two-way range. In fact, they claim to be US manufactured, but some of their components look suspiciously like the Chinese knock-offs.

Again, that is just my opinion based on seeing the SureFire manufacturing process and using a lot of them, versus the brief experience looking over the Pentagon marketing material and closely examining/handling a few of their lights.

As several tac lighting boards mention, you get what you pay for. Machined bar stock costs more than tubing. Cut knurling takes more machine time than rolled on. Gold plated switch contacts cost more than cheap non-plated ones. And all of that adds up in the reliability department. When one product costs three times what the other does, there is probably some difference in the manufacturing process. What is your life or your kids' life worth to you if it fails?

Just my .02, YMMV.

I'm with Reaper, I had a pentagon, had to send it back (batteries draining), got the replacement, had to send that back...

Great customer service, but a lacking product IMHO. Went to surefire and, not suprisingly, they work when needed.
I'm against all of you
I have a pentagon on my real weapon that I carry every day, 3000 rounds and never had to send it back.

Pentagon charges about $268 for their standard light that has 70 Lums and an ARMS throw lever mount. They have the a 135 lums model for $300.
SF Charges $375 for their standard light that has 100 Lums with the Sure Fire screw on mount. Both have one hour run times. The students here use SF Lights. I have seen them break.
Interesting to see is Pentagon continues to grow. Have to wait and see I guess.

Surefire 100%. I use my Z2 religiously. My buddy bought a Pentagon light at the PX after his no-name crapped out. Two days later and one collision with the door on the 1114 (don't ask- Murphy helped) and it too was toast.
If he would of been looking where he was going instead of admiring his obviously superior Tac Light. Maybe he wouldn't of walked into the dam door.............
