I've found a great solution!
A local supermarket sells pre-made chef salads - turkey, ham, baked chicken, and others besides. The small ones are generous, and the large ones would satisfy the heartiest appetite - or two people could split one. I pick a small one up in the afternoon and take it home.
Toss on a little salad dressing, and you've got a meal.
By the way - Rainier cherries are in season. They make a perfect dessert.
