Good article. Go For Broke brought up a good point - the CIDG camps that SF built 40 years ago! When my son called home from Sadr City, he mentioned that this tour was going to be different from his first tour. They were going to be setting up Combat Outposts (COPs) and be living right in with the Iraqi's. When I heard that, the CIDG program was the first thought that came into my mind. Get in and work with the locals - that's how you win hearts and minds.
