I am an Aussie who is absolutely infatuated with the Green Berets. Ever since I heard about what you guys do I have wanted to be there. I was previously on the Australian version of the 18X-ray program you have for SF, the SFDRS that enables you to get into 4RAR commando, however I left due to what was thought to be compartment syndrome in my shins. As it turns out I didn't have it, and am fine now, I just had really bad shin splints. I know what you thinking, why didn't you stay? They gave me that option, but it would have taken 6 months or more for my shins to be ready for a beating again, and sitting around for 6 months on trainnee pay is not really that appealing.
It was after I left that my interest in the SF world grew 10 fold. I already had an avid interest in the SF world, but now I had an insiders view and I suddenly understood a lot more about what I was reading than I did before (plus I have 15 or so mates who can fill me in on things I don't know about). So when I read about the Green Berets, it was like love at first site. Everything you do represents everything I have ever wanted to do in the military. This is where the story gets interesting. I desperately want to get back into the military again, civilian life is just not for me anymore, and as a lucky twist of fate I am also an American citizen. Thus I would really like to find out how easy (or hard) it would be for me to get onto the 18X-ray program. If there is a chance I can do it, then I will be there with bells on.
