Doesn't this allow them a reason to move large quantities of currency into Iraq on a legitimate and frequent basis? I suppose banks will be located within certain Shia neighborhoods supportive of the Iranians. This to me is a legitimate business perhaps to run a screen for other illegitimate activities.
I really have a hard time believing that some Iraqi thugs, obtained late model black suburbans, ACU's, M4's & accessories, IBA's, then learned some useful english phrases, only to kill 5 U.S. Soldiers, kidnapping 4 of them and then promptly killing them. No, these kinds of groups if they had Americans would have held them to at least make a video, etc. Its just not their M.O., instead these Joe's were promptly killed and abandoned with the threat vehicles and equipment used to conduct the dirty deeds. Before this they also demo'd the friendly vehciles in the facility. The amount of reconnaissance preparation and rehearsal it would take to do something like that in Iraq, and then to simply kill the captured soldiers - well it just doesn't add up. Its just not your average thug.
Who then? Expertise, personnel, equipment, motive: Iran. Anyhow. I'm half a world away, and have no official reports, other than open source news. And I am guestimating from a National Guard Grunts POV. Perhaps its too Clancy. We'll see.
