The story mentions the abductions in 2000, have you heard anything about the soldiers abducted mid-2006? I may have missed it, but I don't recall reading anything since about october when they were supposedly still captive.

They are still captive and there is evidence that they were badly wounded at time of abduction i'm afraid.
The 2006 Lebanon campaign did not achieve any of it's goals due to bad leadership. Ashkenazi is an infantry warrior and knows ground battle where as his predecessor was a pilot, air force commander and mistakenly believed too much in air power and too little in traditional booits on the ground.
