Hello All
Hi,
I have been thinking about and training for SF for quite a bit of my college career. Over the past summer I met a professor from the NPS while waiting on him and his wife and chatted with him for a bit. Somehow we ended up talking SF and eventually that lead to him having an SF Major, a ret. SF Colonel, and a SEAL call and talk to me about SOF life. From that I have been put in touch with someone (obviously I am not putting real names up on the net) at Ft. Bragg who is a SF hero and he has the local recruiter taking care of what I need to do to sign up for 18X-ray.
The other half of my life is that I am a senior at college and will know where I stand with the medical schools I have applied to soon. Now in my heart I want to go SF, I just need to have a hard talk with the rents that I will be giving up a paid for ticket to medical school if I get in, which they think is nuts... and I could see why. I have talked with them a bit, but I think they are in denial. They are not anti army or anything, but they don't understand how I could want to give up a life of relative comfort for one with many more inherent dangers.
So thats where I am. Now I am training, up at 0530 before classes each day to run or sprint then hit the gym before my 0800 classes. Got back from a 20 mi. hike this weekend with 80 lbs in the ruck.
Also, as fate would have it my roommate for all 4 years of college who I was randomly paired with in the first year dreamed to be a SEAL, and was accepted to the Naval Academy, but then DQ'd for childhood asthma. He is also going to go SF if he can get through medically, since he has not suffered from asthma since he was under 13. He is getting doctors notes and such together for when we go to the physical soon.
Cheers,
-Dub
