ok, with Ambush Master on the job here I can quit and go drink beer. He's exactly correct about the de-greasing and use of nail polish. The degreasing step is critical. Use a cue tip to both apply and clean. If I may be so bold as to offer one more suggestion that someone who watches "Queer eye for the Straight Guy" might know about, nail polish remover is mostly acetone and that stuff works great for degreasing. I have no idea why a knifemaker would know this...
