That's a cryin' shame. I remember being on a friend's boat, headed down river to chase striper, and making a big cast. Never saw the splash, though, and started to reel my line back in only to feel it grow progressively harder. Darned pelican had snatched my bait in mid-air and beat the heck out of me while I reeled it in the rest of the way and removed the hook.
