Welcome aboard. You know I used to think that we (military folk) had some problem with our own acronyms, but I am at a loss here to figure out yours. Help me out here, I'm old
As I recall:

SRT = Special Response Team (SWAT Team) A lot of agencies try to avoid using the term SWAT

Defensive Tactics Instructor = Teaches Hand to hand self defense, Baton, come-a-longs, etc. Hopefully also teaches situational awareness, etc.

FTO = Field Training Officer Most LE agencies now have a program, were recruits are turned over to an FTO, a seasoned LE Officer, who mentors, teaches LE techniques, evaluates both (Monthly) during and at the end of a specified time period, He/She will recommend that the recruit to be kept or dropped from the Department, before their probation period is up. It seems to work fairly well in most agencies Usually a Six month period assigned to an FTO
