I've never been to SFAS and not going but having taken a few classes at this school I don't see the need to spend the time nor money with your goal of SFAS in mind.

Warrior-Mentor mentioned rockclimbing in his book. Since you're willing to spend some money, there's sportrock in Southern MD. Seems more applicable and...it's in THE book.
