I wish companies that oriented and/or market items to be dual used wouldn't have different "sides" or "houses" for their factories. Once I had ordered some mountian hardwear sleeping bags for the team. Got some really nice -15 bads that were to be grey in color, when we got them they were bright VS-17 Red. Yes ,they were great for civie climbing/mountianeering for that IMPRO VS-17 Panel-Sleeping bag to signal for that Helo when you get stuck up on K2. But not really great for that snow hide site.

Often a company like the ones being described here start out trying to be "best of breed" in the sporting field which means they, sometimes, are getting good enough to work for you guys.
It's often the civilian market which pays the bills for a factory that make the military production possible.
It's a very big and sometimes fatal leap for a private business to produce for "government only".
