Gentlemen,
After several months of lurking, it’s time for a proper introduction.
I found this site while researching whether the warranty on my Silva Type 27 covered the bubble that developed in the capsule. I looked around and found this a site by and for adults who understand service, mission, honor, camaraderie, and valor. And who like to blow things up.
The mentoring of young and future soldiers is the most impressive aspect of the site, in my opinion. Those who find their way here will be well served.
As for myself, I served in the Army for 1967 until 1970. I was Infantry through Ft. Polk and Ft. Ord. I was assigned to the “infantry only” security platoon at an ordnance company on Okinawa. From there I went to the Combat Surveillance/Electronic Warfare School at Ft. Huachuca where I qualified as an Unattended Ground Sensor Operator. Then I went through the Methods of Instruction Course and back to CS/EWS as an instructor.
My only contact with the SF community was some guys from Camp Hardy (I believe) on Okinawa who came to train on some of our “toys” and a SF Capt. I went through MOI with. We later shared an office at EWS.
By the way, in the last 36 years, I’ve never met an 11B from that period who did not serve in Viet Nam. I guess I’m the only one.
Thank you and stay safe out there.
Pat
