Currently DAS is experiencing major problems with corruption and much of it has hit the media. As a result, Uribe, not one to make off hand comments, recently mentioned the possibility of disbanding the organization. IMO this is not likely to occur, but I suspect there will be major changes coming down the pike for the organization. In fact, within the last two months he has fired several senior level people in DAS, to include the director.
The AQ link is monetary not ideological and I would be more worried about corrupt officials in the US as opposed to other nations. Here in CT, the authorities rounded up employees at DMV offices for selling driver licenses. That’s more on my radar screen and a cause for concern.
