Good Morning Gentlemen

My name is Victor Zayas, and I am a just getting my feet wet by posting my initial greeting. I've been in the National Guard since 3/03 and wow what a ride. Being an ex-Navy sub guy, I never would have thought I would have my boots on the ground in a foreign country, and not be looking for the nearest bar. I wet to 11B MOSQ in June 2003, and was activated in October of 2003 with 2-162 INF . 18 months later I was demobilizing in Ft. Lewis, WA. The funny thing is I'm a desk jockey. I joined the Guard to break up the daily drudge of office work, and not to patrol the streets of Baghdad. But I must admit, once I got the hang of this Army life, it was a blast. I wouldn’t have traded the experience for anything. While in this lovely country of Iraq, I did meet some of your fellow SF comrades doing what they do. I even got to kick in a door or two. No fancy movie stuff, we just happened to be patrolling our sector while they were moving through it, and that's when the shooting began. That was fun. Before I go I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. If you have friends and colleagues oversees I wish them well, and toast to the all returning home safe. To all the young men joining the Army, good luck, watch out for your buddies, and listen to people who have had the experience of combat. Learn, learn, learn... otherwise have a good time.

Best Regards
Victor Zayas
