B-52 Project Delta
Jim Tolbert's new Project Delta site is up and running.
Project DELTA was formed in October of 1964 with headquarters in Nha Trang. They conducted the most hazardous and critical missions inside South Vietnam. Project DELTA would prove to be one of the most successful Special Operations units in the Vietnam War. In June of 1965, 5th Special Forces Group (A), Detachment B-52 was activated to act as a controller and headquarters element for the newly formed Project DELTA and its clandestine operations. The mission of Project DELTA was to conduct special reconnaissance missions in corps areas that were designated jointly by COMUSMACV and the Vietnamese Joint Central Staff. The missions were conducted under operational control (OPCON) of a division or larger command... Jennifer Martinez sends |

RECONDO
to add to your B-52 post...May 15, 1964 project Leaping Lena was created for the porpuse of doing LRRPs in Vietnam. out of that grew porject Delta and B-52. then 1966 5th special forces was tasked with running a school to train LRRPs personal. which was called RECONDO school. when it was open it was the most deadly school in the world. it was a three week course in with class work the first week, hands on work with the equipment and other things learned from the classes which is week two. then week three is putting those skills to the test. the class conducts a recon mission into enemy territory. and during those three weeks PT is a very rigirous. there is a really good book on this which is entitled RECONDO by Larry Chambers. thats where i got my info on it from.

I thought the story would start off like this... TS: " Once upon a time, there was a brave Team Sergeant sent to a far away land to do battle against the evil demon of the jungle called Mr. Victor Charlie. " Little Angels: " Daddy... how brave does he have to be?" TS: " Well sweetie... brave enough to be able to eat that fish sauce stuff daddy made the other night without flinching or having his eyes tear up.... clean his plate and then go back for seconds" Little Angels: " DAMN!!!! That is one tough Mofo!!!" LOL.....haha :munchin Sorry TS.... it's all Doc T's fault for giving us the intel... |
