HK P2000
 

Anyone here had a chance to use a P2000 yet?:munchin

We have one at the shop, it is the S model I believe, rather than the SK subcompact.

It feels good and shoots pretty well. The LEM trigger is a bit long, but very smooth and rather light for a DAO setup. The sights they use are different from the USP models if that matters to you, and they use a conventional "Univerasal" type rail rather than the proprietary HK rail found on the USP (But you already knew that). I have seen these pistols with a traditional DA trigger and a Decocker mounted on the rear of the slide also, if the LEM trigger is not your preference.

Not much more info than you could find in the HK Catalog, but HTH.

You mentioned that while they do not advertise it, you can get the P2000 with the DA/SA trigger and a quite cleverly concealed decocker, for those that require it. The SA is one of the best I have ever felt on a non-match HK.

I agree, it feels very nice in your hand and points very well, especially after you install the correct backstrap for your hand size. It also has a nifty built-in lanyard loop.

As you noted, it will accept accessory lights, like the SureFire without requiring an adaptor. In fact, I have it on excellent authority that it will take the same DG switch as the SIG, requiring only a little extra effort to depress the mag release. It takes the same mags as the USP Compact.

It does need night sights, and is not available (yet) in .45 ACP.

It is entirely possible that some recent pictures of such a set-up may be in my possession.:D

OK - Quit fishing for comments/compliments. :p Those of us who were paying attention saw the "background" for the flashlight photos on Crips thread. (I would have commented then except Eagle had already laid down the law and I wasn't up to my usual "Bull in a China Shop" best.) It is a nice piece - we need to go to the range and see what it'll do - probably even take the wife to see what she thinks. (For those of you who are wondering at the previous statement - finding a pistol the wife will actually carry is a real bitch - and the P2000 has some ergonomics concessions to fit it to the shooter that might actually interest her.) Like I said - nice piece. And the trigger was surprisingly good out of the box. Makes me wonder how it'll feel when it's broken in. Put the night sights on it and get some good leather while you're at it. Peregrino

I was wondering why nobody mentioned the appearance of the mystery pistol.

Among the ergonomics are completely ambidexterous controls and a set of backstraps to fit the user's hand. It has a built in trigger lock which is very unobtrusive, should you need one.

I am dry firing it 100 times per day, the trigger should be broken in pretty quickly. Rumor has it that Santa is bringing more .40S&W plinking ammo, since I burned up my last with the SIG 229.

The Trijicon night sights and Kramer MSP in Horsehide are already on order. Ho ho ho! :D

The ammo is the LeMas .40 S&W LEO rounds, why do you ask?

I think that I am doing pretty well with a 3.2 MP point and shoot camera that is over a year old.

Nice piece TR, I shot one in a course just over a month ago. I liked it enough to think that .40 wasn't so bad and that I could adjust to the polymer frame. As you may have guessed from my previous thread, attaching a light is also gaining in appeal.


Yes, Team Sargent, I am well behing the technology curve in handguns. My favorites were designed a long time ago in Utah.

Not till it has several thousand rounds through it.

But I am thinking about using it as my first non-1911 carry gun, if it runs right and shoots straight.

It is about the same overall size as my Para P-12, and holds the same number of rounds, but I do not like trading 13 .45 rounds for 13 .40s.

Maybe they could make a .45 GAP version with the same capacity, but I doubt it for engineering and for marketing reasons.

Can you see the ad for an HK pistol chambered for the .45 Glock cartridge?:D
