Good read! Terry |
A nit, an observation and a question for the medical folk.
1. Nit: "wizened" doesn't mean "wise with age"; it means "dried up, withered or shriveled." Sometimes those with wisdom are indeed wizened, like Ian McKellan's Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films. Other times, they are jovial Buddha types. 2. Observation: stuffed animals seem like a good addition to a trauma kit, depending on the AO/UWOA. 3. Question: regarding antibiotics, my first thought in Third World environments (hell, even on occasion in First World ones) is what are the odds that the indigenous folk will stick with the antibiotic regimen? |

Patient compliance is not good in any country or culture. I've read somewhere that 30% of patients take their medicine correctly, 30% take it incorrectly, and 30% don't take it all. I listen to patients and their Physicians Monday through Friday every week and this theory has a ring of truth to it. A follow up is needed. The stuffed animals are a good thing but due to space are difficult to carry. Small pieces of candy worked better for me. JMVYMV. Doc |
