Help please w/ canned turkey

Sorry to barge in here but I'm in a bind time-wise and thought someone might be able to help. Does anyone know of a non-perishable, non-Hormel turkey product I could send to Iraq? A whole canned turkey would be ideal but doesn't seem available -- although my Google-fu may be weak. I've tasted the only canned turkey I can find -- a Spam prduct -- and it's vaguely turkey-like in composition, but <shudder> there must be something better.

A young man I know is in Camp Habbaniyah up in the 2MARDIV area between Fallujah and Ramadi. They are NG mortars seconded out of their unit and are fish out of water, as evidenced by their Thanksgiving feast: cold beef over rice. They were excited that they would get a Christmas feast w/ the Marines but were just told that has fallen through.

I am trying to quickly pull together as much of a dinner as possible and get it out the door ASAP. I've got stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, yams/marshmallows/brown sugar, canned gravy, nuts, green beans and those canned onion crunchies, and cookies. I've got dried apples, water chestnuts, walnuts, and canned turkey stock to make the dressing.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions for any other non-perishable canned items/recipes and any sources for turkey. I guess a canned ham could be an alternative but they keep talking turkey. They have pots/pans and two hot plates but no microwave. I can't think of how to send dinner rolls -- I guess I could just send some fresh packaged ones and hope they stay edible.

My last boxes got there in 6 days (11/22 - 11/28) so I think I can still make it if I ship in the next coupla days.

Thanks.

You're welcome. My OSINT-fu was particularly strong today.

Pretty good selection of shippable preserved foods too.

Check out the "High Country Grub Stake" at the Cabelas Holiday Food Link.

Anything "HarryandDavid" does is first class, and it's a long time Oregon business from down there in pear country.

I see they ship to APOs too. Try This: http://www.harryanddavid.com/cgi-bin...age_selected=1

A client sent me a basket from Harry and David a few years back and I've used them ever since. Great products. I actually tried them first -- they won't ship any meat, fruit, or chocolate to an APO address and they said the smoked turkey wouldn't survive the trip if I shipped it. They were very apologetic -- implied there were "incidents" in the past.

Most helpful people I've ever met. The woman on the phone took my number and said she'd ask around and if she could find an alternative with another company she'd call back. I was so shocked I didn't even get her name. I'm writing a letter to the company president tonight.
