from the glossary at the end of SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam by John Plaster "Call sign for USAF Foward Air Control (FAC) units at Danang and Pleiku that directly supported SOG cross-border operations."

additionally a Covey Rider was "Longtime Special Forces recon man who flew with USAF FACs to help direct air strikes, insert and extract SOG teams and monitor the Ho Chi Minh Trail corridor."

Hell of a job description. Cheers for that.
