Farrier Class, Don't pass up a chance to go
2 Attachment(s)
Found this short video of a farrier removing a stone from a horse's hoof. Hoof care is paramount if you want to keep your horses in shape. I have watched a bunch of TV Vet shows and the largest number of horse problems are the hooves. This also goes for the other hoofed critters.
With a little practice, you can be a hero to the locals. My GGFather was a carriage maker and did his own teams. I still have his nippers. The attached picture is his shop and the side of his home he built circa 1880-1890 https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fLh4l82qyQw Nippers, a hoof knife, & a rasp are well worth carrying. |
That is very cool; thanks for sharing those pics. "In general" is this the baliwick of the 18D (or the 91B4S back in our day probably)?

I'm a Farrier now.
It's a great trade to take up after retirement. You work your own schedule, you get to be outside, you stay busy. You meet some great people and mentors and you get to meet the underbelly of the horse industry. Quote:
