Interesting article on Astan...
Having spent two years of my life on the border between the contemporary Uzbekistan and Afghanistan as a Soviet Army conscript medic many years ago, my take on the Western withdrawal from this sad place is quite different from what might be called the op-ed page consensus.

Interesting Article, I agree, However, the source is what I find ambiguous. A former Soviet- Medic conscript. The author may be located in Langley, VA. and not Australia. The sentence structure and terminology have a familiar tone...
