Pentagon ‘Analyzing’ Troop Deployment to Haiti

Oh F--k, more military adventures with no national interest at stake, no actual goal in mind, or achievable endstate, in a country that has never had a stable government of ANY style.

Haiti has been a total collapse from day ONE..

NO NO NO

After Presidential Assassination in Haiti, Pentagon ‘Analyzing’ Troop Deployment to Island Nation, Mil & Intel, By James R. Webb | July 12, 2021

Following the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise Wednesday, the Haitian government has requested the presence of US troops. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on Fox News Sunday that the Department of Defense was currently “analyzing” the request, prompting questions about whether the US would once again send troops to the Caribbean island nation.

“I think that restraint in deploying US forces is advisable — absent a total collapse or major humanitarian crisis — because the solution to this political problem has to come from Haitian institutions and civil society with the interagency support of the US government, not via Department of Defense intervention,” Dan Mahaffee, senior vice president and director of policy at the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, said.

Nonmilitary elements of the US federal government deployed to Haiti Sunday to assist with the investigation into Moise’s death, Kirby said. An “interagency team,” primarily made up of Department of Homeland Security and FBI members, is now in Haiti.

Maybe while they are there they can institute a weapons buy back program and pay people 300% to 1000% more than the weapon is worth, you know to raise them out of poverty.

Now, where have I seen this movie before..? Oh yeah, partying like it’s 1994. BTDT

ETA: There is no military mission in Afghanistan but we can invent one in Haiti and quite possibly Cuba before the end of the year.

Joe is going to be a busy guy, Cubans are also calling for protection, not to mention all the liberal mayors here in the USA.

It seems like Jules and Arthur agree

I gotta go look to see if I still have my boarding tickets for the USS Harlan County...wait that was decommissioned and sold a year after we attempted to sail to Haiti in 1994...only to be repelled by their heavily armed flotilla. I swear I actually saw pointy sticks in some of the canoes.

I liked watching their police use classic M1-Garands as walking sticks leaning on the stock with the muzzle buried in an inch or two of Haitian clay.

I say we immediately commit tens of thousands of American lives and billions of US dollars to the region to chase the bogey man.
... a 20 year deployment ought to do it.

Plus, it distracts from the shit show we have playing out on the mainland.

Not surprised

With the heavy Russian presence around the area I wouldn't be surprised if we sent some sort of package.

Haiti, truly a shithole country if there ever was one. Just say no!

Not sure about that..

The Ruskies are certainly looking for money-making opportunities, but nowadays they want a return on investment. Gold, Oil, FOOD, some tangible assets.

In Cuba, they get hookers, tropical vacations, Rum, and cigars.

Haiti has nothing.

Maybe the U.S. could conduct an "Operation Ranch Hand" using chemlite juice and just scare the crap out of everyone.....
