MICC Soldier earns 2020 Black Engineer of the Year award
Legitimate question? I have always had a lot of pride having been an Engineer, it started even before the indoctrination as a Combat Engineer in Basic / AIT at Ft Leonard Wood, Airborne School and the Q Course and on to the 19th. Essayons was drilled into our heads... They instilled a lot of Pride in us, didn’t matter who was to the left or the right of you as all the units I ever experienced were about buddies, squads/ teams, platoons, companies, Battalions/Groups and Regiments. Granted, that was many years ago and even I sometimes reread my posts and recognizes I can be somewhat naive, but did I miss something? Is this what the Army has come to? Are soldiers awarded merit based on something other than performance? Have I missed something in my interpretation of this Army Times article?

I don't think you misinterpreted anything, it sez it in black and white...
They want equalityand no discrimination, yet still segregate awards to different ethnicities. Hell, look at the VPOTUS, was she chosen on accompishments....it was plainly stated he was gonna pick a black female, no matter what...qualifications be damned... |
As bad as this sounds...there's a joke in there somewhere.

That's a much better award than the 'other' best engineer award.
...the other award has been tainted with privilege and racism Coming soon: The Female Engineer of the Year Award. The LGBT Engineer of the Year Award. The Transgender Engineer of the Year Award. The Black Transgender Female of the Year Award. The Black Transgender LGBT Female of the Year Award. Seriously - if we are going to be SERIOUS about diversity - I want to see THOSE fucking awards much sooner than later. Lets not exclude any of our protected groups. On the topic of diversity - Anybody want to take a stab at a concept that sits at the opposite end of the "unity" spectrum? Diversity. Lets do a quick excursion into the etymology of the word "diversity" Quote:
It's a brave new world. HIP Hip ...hooray Now, lets continue to classify people and put them into isolated groups so we can be more unified in our diversity. Inclusive diversity - it's what for dinner. and peas - peas are for dinner too now, go eat your fucking peas |
For whatever reason in this country we cannot get past color and it has gotten worse in the last 12 years. I read the article twice and am still confused as to what if any kind of engineer he is. It appears to me his job is to order stuff, he may be very good at it. I guess there has to be a best of everything award these days lest anyone feels left out. The Army supposedly has 190 MOS's that's a lot of awards hanging out there.

He is a 51C from the Army Acquisition Corps. Since the award is a 'lifetime achievement' type award it was likely that his previous MOS as a biological research specialist contributed to his standing. Awesome effort and awesome recognition for an exceptional career NCO - but again - it just shows that we the people are rushing forward to make sure everyone is 'type-classified' for diversity sake. I reckon the need to have type-classified awards is "proof" that we are a systemically racist society or else we wouldn't need to award separate recognition based on genders and colors and nationalities ...we would just recognize people for being "the best" - but it seems we the people still aren't mature enough to transcend things like color race gender orientation religion or galactic origin and default to purely merit based recognition. The system is inherently racist - the t1me MAGAzine mAn 0f tHe yEar said so even though 50% of the man of the year is a woman of color It's probably why the NFL needed TWO national anthems this year. ...the regular one was racist |

I am still waiting to get my class make it the grievance group aka professional perpetual victims. That way, by simply being born into it, and being able to inhale O2 and exhale CO2...I can be exempt from eating Box's peas, even if they come with special edition deluxe extra strength decaffeinated genuine all original American made diamond crusted solid gold dark roasted patriot widgets |

I can definitively say that is a different MOS than this ENGINEER: https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/paul-r-smith |

we can all make bad decisions and have the shitty generic brand peas shoved down our throat or we can have well prepared properly seasoned peas as a small side dish with our favorite meal. No matter what - everyone has to eat their peas at some point - the goal is to eat them on your terms. |

Man I’m so glad I retired when everyone serving in the army was “green” and we all bled “red” and no body really took offense to cussing, derogatory cadence calls about women’s body parts or racist epithets like cracker, honky, kite, spic and what do they call it now the “N-word”? “Shit n....igger don’t be don’t be busten my chops over your white honky ass trash bitch stealing my monies for some pootang.” (I remember hearing that a lot in the barracks.)
“I know who I’m am! I’m the dude playing the dude, disguised as another dude!! You’re the dude who don’t know what dude he is!!” (Robert Downey Jr.) [In a movie you cannot make today or any of the thousands of Hollywood depictions of white men or women dressed up as Blacks, Indians, Asian or probably even Italians without offending some subculture or even Blacks in a movie making fun of themselves (Cleavon Little - Blazing Saddles) without being censored and edited.] Oh the hypocrisy! So I’m just a little bit curiouser and even a bit more curiouser now; who received the “2020 MICC White Engineer of the Year Award”? ETA: And more importantly than all of that duplicitous “diversity” horse sh!t I want to know if there are different signs in front of the PX/Commissary for the “Awardees” so they can park upfront where the Generals and Command Sergeants Major gets to park? |
