California Bill: 1 Year in Jail for Using Wrong Transgender Pronoun

A new bill being considered by the California State Senate would punish people who “willfully and repeatedly” refuse “to use a transgender resident’s preferred name or pronouns” in a public health, retirement or housing institution.
The bill, SB 219, was proposed by State Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco). It includes several other provisions that require a health facility, for example, to honor the gender identity of a patient, meaning that the patient must be admitted to a room that comports with his or her chosen gender; allowed to use whatever bathroom he or she wants to use; and wear whatever clothing or cosmetics he or she decides to wear. It has gone through several amendments.

How can you believe in free speech, but think the government can compel people to use certain pronouns when talking to others? … This is not tolerance. This is not love. This is not mutual respect. True tolerance tolerates people with different views. We need to treat each other with respect, but respect is a two-way street. It is not respectful to threaten people with punishment for having sincerely held beliefs that differ from your own.

California Democrats have also taken up the transgender cause as part of their “resistance” to President Donald Trump. In February, when the Trump administration reversed an Obama administration directive on transgender bathrooms in public schools, thus allowing states and local communities to set their own policies again, California protested vigorously in favor of the idea that the federal government should impose a uniform standard everywhere as a matter of civil rights.

You are correct. While the street gangs fight and attract the attention the real danger is legislation destroying the concept of free speech and criminalizing those who do not agree with the leftist viewpoint.

It's more than just pronouns.

SB 219 covers a lot more than just pronouns. If Uncle Chester the Molester decides one morning to state to the staff "I self-identify as a woman now," he can demand to be housed in the woman's rooms, with other women. This despite his beard, fully functional male parts, male clothing, etc. Refusing him that "right" would become a criminal offense.

(f) “Long-term care facility staff” or “facility staff” means all individuals employed by or contracted directly with the facility.

(g) “Resident” means a resident or patient of a long-term care facility.

(h) “Transgender” means a person whose gender identity differs from the person’s assigned or presumed sex at birth.

(i) “Transition” means to undergo a process by which a person changes his or her physical sex characteristics or gender expression to match his or her inner sense of being male or female. This process may include, among other things, a name change, a change in preferred pronouns, and a change in social gender expression, as indicated by hairstyle, clothing, and restroom use. Transition may or may not include hormone use and surgery.

1439.51. (a) Except as provided in subdivision (b), it shall be unlawful for a long-term care facility or facility staff to take any of the following actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status:
(1) Deny admission to a long-term care facility, transfer or refuse to transfer a resident within a facility or to another facility, or discharge or evict a resident from a facility.

(2) Deny a request by residents to share a room.

(3) Where rooms are assigned by gender, assigning, reassigning, or refusing to assign a room to a transgender resident other than in accordance with the transgender resident’s gender identity, unless at the transgender resident’s request.

Do male prisoners who identify as female and get housed with other females get raped by other inmates? If there are 72 inmates in the housing unit does that make me a Muslim?

I happen to agree with the premise of Team Sergeant's post title. The issue in VA, for me anyway, isn't about white nationalists vs. Antifa/BLM. It's about state subornation of the stifling of speech. This is another example and, mark my words if it passes, there will be someone immediately setting up to bait some employee so they can have standing in a court to sue - and get more free shit.

Need a new gender.
There are apparently dozens now.

The pronoun for my newly adopted gender is "hzgs".
Fortunately, the pronoun is the same for both 2nd and 3rd person.

In English, it would be pronounced: "his grace".
Since it would be law in California, We would expect judges and politicians to honor it when addressing Us.

Oh, that's the other part.
The first person pronoun of this gender is the plural of common English (we, us, our, etc...).

Furthermore, this gender is unique.
We are the only, and take great offense to others appropriating Our gender.

We look forward to the republic of California giving Us due recognition.

I am all for it.

California resident should be imprisoned for 3-5 for violating speech laws.

I went for a long ride with a bunch of new acquaintances today.

Turns out pretty much everyone there was gay but me.

It also turns out I was probably the least conservative of the bunch, which was refreshing to hear.

They were a mix of LE, government employees, and business owners.
