Figured I get a new weapon to play with. Shot it in Israel and rather liked it.

What optic are you using on the Tavor?

longrange1947 03-22-2016 14:32

The vortex spitfire 3x.

Thank you.

I used Aimpoint PRO but my experience was limited - I enjoyed the maneuverability of the weapon but as I say my time was limited. Some magnification may be needed by me past 100 yds that's why I inquired.

Based on your avatar and your mentoring, I can't fathom how you'd like it. Your wind reading, range estimating, ballistics calculating, coriolis adjusting, spin-drift ignoring aptitude all go to waste with that platform :D

longrange1947 03-22-2016 15:42

frostfire - it's a toy and no longer had a 5.56 fun platform. ;)

How do you like the bullpup design?

longrange1947 03-22-2016 16:40

I have no problem with it. I like the feel and balance. I have used them in the past.

Master Rick, so I take it you like the trigger as is and won't be installing the $$$ Geissele Tavor trigger :D ?

longrange1947 03-22-2016 20:30

I will probably do a drop in yes. But these style rifles are not for accuracy, just getting rounds on target ASAP.

Stiletto11 03-22-2016 20:34

What's the twist? Are you sticking with 55gr?

CAARNG 68W 03-23-2016 13:53

How were you able to shoot that in Israel?

longrange1947 03-23-2016 14:03

I was working with rheir sniper school.

Had the pleasure of playing with the X95 today. Holee-sweet-cheese-and-crackers, the trigger feels night and day better than the Tavor. The bolt lock and mag release ergonomics also get solid improvements. Very tempted to shell the $$$ with mil discount now.

On a side note, between the promotional videos and today, I am convinced one has to have solid weapon handling, instructing, and beautiful to boot to work as rep for IWI. I pretended it was my "first time" so the purdy instructor spent more 1:1 time with me going over the Israeli six points of contact method :D
