Charity for Southern Thailand
SFA3 is currently undertaking a relief project for the south of Thailand, taking advantage of our familiarity with the local culture and language to target specific areas where we can make an immediate difference.
Our first target is a rural school that is currently not operating because of damage. This coming weekend, Jim will be traveling down to join some of our folks who are already down there and we will hire local labor and use local supplies to get that school up and running. We are soliciting donations. For anyone in the States, donations can be sent to SFA HQ who will forward them to us (please mark as for SFA3 Tsunami Relief). If you can help, we'd appreciate it. |
Greenhat, sounds good. Pls post specifics:
Check should be made out to: __________ Referencing: ___SFA3 Tsunami Relief___ Check should be mailed to: ____________ ____________ ____________ |
I'm guessing, but this SFA?
|
More likely this particular one Sweetbriar...
Name: Chapter III, SFA - 3
POC: Al Lock Website: www.sfa3.com Email: al.lock@nli.co.th Should wait for confirmation from Greenhat though :munchin |
Checks should be made out to "Special Forces Association" and sent to SFA HQ:
Special Forces Association PO Box 41436 Fayetteville, NC 28309-1436 SFA HQ will be forwarding us the funds at intervals. A single big transfer once a week or so rather than a lot of small transactions will reduce the bank fees. |
Bucks sent.
Greenhat I left them a phone message about where the check is to be applied - my online banking really needs one line of explanation allowed. The reports I've heard of all the dead bodies floating around are so tragic. It's amazing anyone on the beach at the time survived, but many of the people I've seen in the airport interviews were on the beach and ran when they heard the jet-engine sound. But how could they outrun or not be killed by that wave. FrontSight |
Check will be sent tomorrow.
Out of the tragedy some miracles occur. One that strikes me is the small baby found floating on a mattress evidently for about 5 hours. Another, a 5 year old boy held on to a door for 2 hours until someone found him.... |

Thanks for the info and the link, Greenhat. I've passed in on to family and friends who have want to help but were uneasy about how the funds will be spent.

Just giving this a bump to keep it alive. |
Those numbers will change on the website tomorrow. We've received $27,500, spent $2,400. This weekend we will make a big dent by spending another $10,000 more or less for project #2.
