OK, SSN out,, random serial numbers in..

When they put the SSN on, they didn't issue us new ones, they took ours and added the SSN so mine also has my RA number. They also removed my silencers and didn't return them. Cheap bastards. :D

ETA: I see they did the same to yours, Jim. Forgot the you were an O. ;)

I bought the ones on top because I was so afraid of losing the ones I got in Basic, which are extremely sentimental to me.


The ones I got at Ft. Leonard Wood are on the bottom, sans silencers.

I like how American ones have a Comments section, although I would be a bit pissed at the O, POS notation. Were they issued by the air force maybe?

I used to have funny/interesting slides up for the Soldiers before I began my class. Some of the slides showed items that asked, "can you ID this item?" I had one slide that showed the P38 you had hanging on your dog tag chain. I was surprised that very few of the Soldiers could identify the item. As surprising, I asked, "can you explain the relationship?" and showed a cassette tape & pencil, a turntable arm & a penny, etc. Once again, nothing but crickets. :rolleyes:

"O Pos" notation is my blood type.

As I was writing about on another forum, there's really little need for dog tags to be honest. DEERS has my religion, I don't have a red one for allergies, i.e. the Combat Pill Pack, blood type is a bit redundant as it's more than likely that the Medic would be pushing a Hextend Solution.

When I went through AIT at Ft. Sam, checking the dog tags was the very last thing we did under "Tactical Field Care", and that was only for allergies.

Loved those.

I find it hard as hell to get my foot all the way up to the steering column, so I just don't bother now.

I'm I the only one that see's a starter button??

I actually already had that one, it and the little yellow plastic adapter that allows you to play a 45 on a 33/3 turntable also blew their mind; "what's a 45?"

For religion I always put "No Pref." My team daddy had "Pedestrian" (just walking through life...):D
