CMP to sell surplus 1911's

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c114%3AS.1356%3AI never thought I would see the day. obama actually signed the bill today.
How long do you think it will take to get them out of storage, inspected, graded, etc before they are put up for sale?

Cool, I like antique weapons.

CW3SF 11-25-2015 18:15

They'd have to be dirt cheap, but I'd be in.

Maybe they can find the one you used at SOT/Mott Lake...that one that always shot in the other guys lane....

I wish that they would sell surplus M14s. ;)

Yeah, I had one of the Euro models that shot around corners.....

I'm hoping these end up in the $300 range. If so, they will make great project guns to learn gunsmithing on.

Didn't Obama block the sale of M1 or M1 carbines awhile back? With his war on "Guns" this makes no sense to me. Not that I think these guns should not be made available. He is just all over the place.

This provision was attached to the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act).

CMP email from yesterday was asking people to stop calling about 1911's as they have no further information yet.

Pericles 12-03-2015 13:59

I want one.

Not even likely. After CMP gets done inspecting and replacing the worn and
unserviceable parts you are probably looking at $500 for a rack grade up to astronomical prices. The 1911 market is about to go soft but, there is still a lot of appeal.

I don't see these going up for sale for 2+ years.

My only hope is they go to shooters first to develop pistol marksmanship as that is the CMPs charter......not collecting.
