Under Water with Headgear?

I'll admit I know little about waterborne operations. Is it necessary to wear headgear of this type under water?

While not technically or tactically necessary...it does make for a cool pic.

Its in Seafloor cammo pattern. Anemone won't be able to see you if you remain still.

Kind of like when you see a picture of a Special Forces soldier wearing a green beret in the field........ cool pic maybe but it doesn't happen.
