Any 'shroom hunters?

I found 4 morels today after looking for several days now. I still think we need a few more days (central Iowa).

I also found 2 nice dryad saddles on some dead tree trunks. They’ll be going on our home-made pizza today. I just sauteed them with butter, salt and parsley. Delicious.

I think the POTUS might be one.

We ate some Sunday. We have a few on the farm, but not enough to suit me. They are being sold in an area health food store for $33 a pound.

The weather has turned dry for about a week, so they are probably done. I do have quite a few corals for the fall.

Still getting my feet under me here in the drier part of the country. Golden Chanterelles, Black Chanterelles, Cimmeron Chanterelles, Boletes, Morels, and Chicken of the Woods are the edibles I know of and have harvested. Definitely miss the rain forest but learning a new terrain has it's benefits!

I'll buy all the first rate product you harvest for any of the following: Golden Chanterelles and Black Chanterelles, $15. per pound. Cimmeron Chanterelles $12 per pound, Boletes, Morels $20 per pound. I will also pay for shipping.

I live in Arizona, "these are not the shrooms you're looking for....."

Bettendorf 05-02-2015 16:44

I found 12 more morels and a bunch of mica inky caps today.

I'm afraid I'll never find enough to sell on the side. Mushrooms prove very elusive to me.

Nearly there,..

Here in Northern Michigan we're still about 30 degrees away from the beginning of the Season.
We try to get about 10lbs each spring,.. still have a few pounds left in the freezer,.. and for you purists,.. the dried 'shrooms are usually the first to go.

Here is an example of what I mentioned, a year or so ago I found this, what I believed was a Golden Chanterelle, however, it was on a South facing slope and you can see the soil...granted it came up after heavy rains, it had the tell tale signs of that mushroom but not the smell. Usually I find most mushrooms in shadier conditions. I haven't had the chance to run into another hunter to ask, just curious as it does not appear to be a false Chanterelle...I wondered if that spore had just sat there through the many previous years of drought ( normally I would come back when they are fuller before harvesting), I passed on consuming it. Also pictured are Golden and Black Chanterelles which there was no doubt about :)
And some Morels.
