On April 19th, 1775 the American Revolutionary War started with the Battles of Lexington and Concord.

On this 240th Anniversary, thank you to those patriots in the militias who fired the shots heard 'round the world, and started the long road to American independence and liberty.

As a Son of the American Revolution, I tip my hat to those Patriots who stood fast.

TR, I am stealing that.

Does the US Army draw much on historical/tactical innovation lessons from the era for use in educating soldiers/officers?

I've read/heard much about far more recent conflicts with Captain Winters in Normandy and The Great Raid.

But I haven't heard much about the US Revolutionary War and lessons from it from a US military perspective leveraging it's history.

Maybe just lesser known/covered recently?

Or maybe the kind of thing that comes/goes and comes back again over generations?

Washington's Crossing in Bucks County, Pa is a neat place. I remember visiting a particularly large/old and rather spooky looking tree somewhere in Bucks County that had a sign associated with it for being a meeting place for the US Revolutionaries.

Would like to pass on my thanks also. To the Patriots past, present, and future.
We need more of that spirit today.

I'm doing my part, what little that it is, to continue our sacred legacy of patriotism by instilling those core values into my children and by setting an example as humbly as possible. I've had many fine examples from friends to family members to show me the way, as well as many of you on this board. A very respectful happy patriot's day to each of you.

To me, the US of A is an idea. A precious and powerful, yet fragile idea. Thus it requires patriots like you and me so that "that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
