Lol...reminds me of the Space Shuttle blowing up.
I heard the news flash going into Bragg after PT clean up at home.
Got to our 'barracks' on smoke bomb and there was a message on the entry way chalk board.

"Seven slots/openings for astronaut school...see the SGM for the paperwork.'

I was in my second day of basic training at Ft. McClellan Alb. and on "total control" (no TV, radios, newspapers, etc.) and didn't know what had happened. I over head a couple of the dinning facility staff talking about it while working KP, but still didn't grasp what happened.

The next morning as we were being "gently" woken up by our D.S.'s, one of them yelled out, "I've got news about the seven astronauts ..... They're still dead !!!!"

Same thing happened every time one of our guys did a HANO.

We are evil insensitive bastards....

Yeah, why I miss it....these sensitive types drive me batshit.
