I have heard good things about the W.L. Weller 12 y/o 90.4 proof.

Obviously, the 107 is both younger and higher proof, but if you get the chance, give it a try and let me know what you think.

You are a lucky man. If your liver survives.

I have tried and liked them both. I prefer the lower proof version. The recipe is very similar to Blanton's.

Same mash bill and process from the same distillery as Pappy's. Wheated, not rye.

I understand that it compares very favorably with PVW of the same age.

Thanks for the endorsement!

Sitting here sipping Blanton's!:D:D

Some tasting notes:

Maker’s has a new "Cask Strength" offering. Costs about the same as Blanton's for half the volume. Good stuff, I bought two bottles.

Jim Beam has some new experimental "craft" bourbons, one made with red wheat and the other with brown rice. I tried the Distillers Masterpiece, it was good but not great.

I am a fan of Johnny Drum Private Stock, which is made by the same people who make Willett and Noah's Mill (or at least it was at the same table). Bought a couple of bottles. Not as pricey as a Blanton's.

I bought a bottle of the Whistle Pig "The Boss Hog" 13 Year Old rye. Very expensive. Good stuff.

I bought a bottle of the Angel's Envy Cask Strength, which is another high-end offering from Buffalo Trace. Really liked it.

How pricy is Blanton's in LA? Costco has it here for $49.99.

That's about right. $45-65 depending on where you go. It is starting to get scarce and the price is rising.
