The “Lone Wolf” and al-Qaeda Sleeper Cells in the United States
This gives some good insight on the ability of extremist groups or even online Jihadi forums to pass information regarding Jihadi tradecraft for Sleeper and Lone Wolf operators. The link is a document that was prepared by Decision Support Systems, Inc. in 2008.

The "Lone Wolf" and al-Qaeda Sleeper Cells in the United States |
MtnGoat,
What about those from various nations joining the fight against ISIS? There is a big social media movement supporting this dynamic as well. http://ww2.nationalpost.com/m/wp/blo...n-against-isis http://guardianofvalor.com/truth-beh...litary-career/ It is also to my understanding that several Americans have also joined the Kurdish movement to defeat ISIS. It's a two way street, and I'm hoping the good guys come out on top of this one. |

Yes it is a two way street, but I'm looking at this article as what it is pointing out. What is the TVA for the streets of USA? ISIL media wing is great, why? Because they have Westerns that are educated on Computer Science and technology and they know Islam. What would make it any better? |
After the Boston Marathon, San Bernadino, and Orlando events, rather than bringing in operatives to create 'sleeper' cells, the practice seems to be the recruitment of children of immigrants that are sympathetic to Islamic jihad.
It eliminates the the logistics and operational risks of getting someone into the country and simplifies everything to include security (no new neighbors to call attention to the operation when you can get the kid that grew up there). PBS did a story on European Immigrants and their children's inclination to radicalize. The same trend could be true here: LINK |
Lone Wolf?
It now appears to be that the Lone Wolf isn't so alone after all.
It seems the Lone Wolf is know to his family, friends and co-workers as a threat but family and friends will not turn him in and the workers try but get stiff armed and labeled islamophobic. |

At local level (with potential strategic impact), there are several muslim students from Islamic countries in the Q course right now. Would what they perceive from the classmates and SOF community reinforce what the radicals/fanatics are telling them about "infidels" ? |
