Cannon shell smashes into family bedroom in Oklahoma

A wayward 105mm projectile shot from a howitzer cannon at a weekend shooting event traveled more than a mile and ricocheted off a tree before blasting through Gene and Jeanne Kelley's residence, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department.

Glad nobody got hurt.

I'd bet a NG ADT training incident.

I remember when we had an FOB set up in Area X-Ray at Schofield and a Marine artillery battery was firing just down the road...and sent a round over the Waianae into the town of Makaha on the other side of the mountains. Nobody was hurt but caused quite a stir.

After that, we used to say 'Danger Close' in a call for fire from a Marine artillery battery was 15km. ;)

I'm betting that the shell is not the only dummy to get fired.
