Just this past Friday, my place of business had an event sponsored by a local street church, where they gave away 10,000 bags of groceries, and some kids bikes. 10,000+ people showed up, during a lightning and rain storm, with their children in tow, literally. They sat on the ground of the concourse with nothing more than dippers on, infants! And the worst part was, they were expecting free everything, and it was handed to them. Until...the no smoking policy went into effect. It was hideous, disgusting, and shameful to watch these people. We suffered thru it, fed the VIP's Upstairs their lunch and I finally went home brokenhearted for all the depravity I saw. Guess sometimes real life invades our spaces, and all we can do is be shocked! Holly--> Thankful for Our Freedom! |

It's a damn shame that people could be that crass, to take advantage of a situation like that, and it's a damn shame that people could be so hard up that they'd take advantage of a situation like that. I'm not defending their actions, but hunger is a problem, and self preservation can make people do things we can't understand unless we're in that boat.
I was talking to a good friend of mine who lives outside Houston shortly after Katrina. Because the residents of New Orleans were displaced, they came to Houston for relief, and as a result there was an increase in crime. |

The bright side is, 8,000+ real Americans visit my place of business regularly, and salute the Flag and sing the National Anthem! America is still here I do believe. Holly |
