Another loss in the fight for states rights.........

Saw this one coming a mile away............

Another example of calculated misuse of power by the federal Government in order to fulfill a political agenda.

(CNN) -- The U.S. government will recognize same-sex marriages as equal to traditional marriages in all federal legal matters, including bankruptcies, prison visits and survivor benefits, Attorney General Eric Holder announced Saturday.
The expansion of such federal recognition will include 34 states where same-sex marriage isn't legal, but the new federal benefits being extended to those states will apply only where the U.S. government has jurisdiction, Holder said.

Isn't that how we ended up where we are in the first place? Who knew that one word could be so powerful.

More than half the voters in this Country can't wait to change things.

Come on, November.

Change is a two way street. Hope and change elected O the first time, I have no idea what elected him the second time.

Too bad the popular vote doesn't control things.

States rights are key to the existence of America. If everyone just took comfort in the fact that if you don't like the way things are you can vote with your feet and move.

Too bad these days, the squeaky wheel gets all the attention, mainly because squeaky wheels attract other squeaky wheels and ultimately lead to votes, which lead to the perpetuation of the left wing political agenda which makes everything "diverse" and "accommodating to all"

I was talking to my girl in Peru about this and she can not understand what the hell is going on in the US. I explained it to her and she said it sounded like a dictator not to a democrancy. I agreed!!!!

She does not know what has happened to our values. We had another long discussion about Smoking Pot. She said that all her friends that started smoking pot in high school all moved on to Coke and are addicted now. She knows that it is a gateway drug and said that they are destroying our country.

Sir, are you okay then with onerous gun control laws in the more blue states?

I it would be a small price to pay if states were allowed stick to values and beliefs without the federal Government meddling in its affairs. But that isn't happening, because we still have erroneous gun control in several states with no end in sight in regards to their ridiculous legislation across the board. Let those states be the liberal high ground whilst the rest of us sit back and watch them fall.

Personally, I have no desire to live in California, Illinois, Maryland, New York, Washington and now..........Colorado Anyways.

States rights have been dead since July 8th 1868. Slavery was evil but it should have been excised with a scalpel not an atomic bomb.

14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

The 14th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified on July 9, 1868, and granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States,” which included former slaves recently freed. In addition, it forbids states from denying any person "life, liberty or property, without due process of law" or to "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” By directly mentioning the role of the states, the 14th Amendment greatly expanded the protection of civil rights to all Americans and is cited in more litigation than any other amendment.

Is this what you are referring to? The topic of slavery could have a whole thread all to itself .
