Congressional Gold Medal To Honor OSS

Quote:

On Monday, the effort got a boost from former Defense Secretaries Robert Gates and Leon Panetta, who asked Capitol Hill lawmakers for their support.

“Congress will remind Americans that our intelligence and special-operations communities were created by the ‘greatest generation,’ ” they wrote. “There is little time left to honor the few surviving OSS veterans. We would be very grateful if you would become a cosponsor.”

One medal would go collectively to the hundreds who worked for the spy agency during its brief existence, from 1942 to 1945, with each individual able to get a replica medal.

The effort is being led by the nonprofit group the Office of Strategic Services Society.

The OSS Society

Interesting, Awarding the Medal to ALL OSS participants.

A group award?

No doubt many many who were in the OSS deserve the medal, but ALL??

Aren't those medals called Unit Citations? How about a JMUA, I was very proud of mine!

Hey OSS desk clerk, you got a blanket MOH! Fook Yeah!

Maybe I'll get a MOH on my death bed for the war on terror, I'll hold out for one!

Come on guys. Get the knots out of your knickers and read the article.

They're talking of awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to "honor" the exploits of the OSS - NOT awarding the Medal of Honor.

Jeeeez.

JJ - do you want me to correct your misleading thread title?

Please do,,

I read the "gold" but it didn't ring a bell.. I also read a couple other articles and they didn't use gold, but rather CMoH.. It's what you get for reading at 5am....

Apologies.

It's funny how your mind can read things that aren't there when already primed with a thought! Once the MOH was primed that was all I saw! That and some ADHD to try and speed read the article!

MOH -- no
CGM -- yes!!!
