To me those images evoked memories of similar images from another place and another time.

I noted from your Bio that you are a cadet at BYU with aspirations to be an 18A someday. I am intrigued that you chose to post those images as one of your first posts? Perhaps you would care to share with us what those images say to you and elaborate on the message that is conveyed through those images - as you interpret that message of course. ;)

I've always been intrigued at how much a single photograph can say. For someone like me who has never been in a war zone, it provides a lot of insight into war, and what it means to the people involved. Looking at Ferguson's collection made me think about a lot of different things, none of them political really. I reflected on how fortunate I am to live with my family without fear on a day-to-day basis. I thought about how war takes young men and women from their homes and families and puts them in places they never imagined they'd be in. I imagined what it would be like to have a foreign power occupy my country. Looking at other war photography from places like Haiti and the DR Congo reminds me that while many live in peace, many live in fear and are victims to unimaginable brutality and inhumanity. It makes me reflect on why I plan on going into a career where I will likely see that inhumanity up close.

The great thing about art and media is that the same piece will mean different things for different people. That's what I got out of it at least. I don't generally post here as I don't have anything meaningful to contribute/I'm not really a member of this community, but I honestly felt like these photos were worth sharing.
