So my cousin Laura goes to Africa for 3 weeks and climbs Kilimanjaro...and all I got was this tin...filled with Kili dirt from her boots...so cool.

I will attest to the fact that it is canned dirt right off the shelf as well.

I suspect that if the USDA inspectors at the airport found it, she would have had some 'splaining to do.

African soil has all sorts of spores and viruses living in it, some of which "wake up" during droughts or on the other hand lots of rain. Keep the tin sealed.
The foot and mouth epidemic in the UK some years ago was attributed to dust storms from Africa bringing the disease by wind to the UK.

Yikes! So I poured bleach in the tin...let it dwell...dumped it....scoured the tin with bleach...whew! Now I have a memento...Thanks!
