I was there from 1968-1970, went back a couple of years ago. It was hard to recognise. Time moves on I suppose.

RIP Colonel McCulloch , Vaya con Dios..

ZonieDiver 04-08-2009 12:03

Rest in Peace, Sir!

I loved the Chapel. I had to go "stand-up" for my "brother" Bobby when he was in the process of getting married whilst we were in SFTG. It was kind of like having the devil vouch for your good character.

My wife and I got married in the JFK Chapel, too. Chaplains Marion Mills and Bert Pitchford. I just looked at the pics - damn, I look 16...but thought I was so mature. ;)

Scariest thing I ever did - Don Hussen and George Rallios were up there to keep me from bolting. :p

Re: Chapel At Bragg

Sad to say I do not not even know where the chapel was at Bragg.

It was just to the West of the JFK Center, up the hill going towards the 82nd and across Ardennes from what were the red brick SFTG Company HQs. It was at the edge of the woods where the PT and pre-jump training/briefing area was located - now obviously a large parking lot.

Use satellite and zoom in - it's the white roofed building just to the left of the intersection (A) of Ardennes and Zabitosky Streets.

The large white roofed building at the NW corner of Ardennes and Reilly to the East of the Ardennes - Zabitosky intersection is the JFK Center.

The plaza across Ardennes to the South of the JFK Center contained Bronze Bruce.

Thanks, TR - corrected. I should have said 'contained' - I was trying to give him reference points from the time he would have been around the area.
