I think the gun laws in the UK are a gross affront to what was once a proud empire but in the end it's what they decided what they want in their own society. He decided to brake those laws. IMHO it would be like an American soldier bringing home a pound of heroin given to him by his Afghani counterparts. He should have known better.

The story I initially heard was that he came back to be part of a memorial service and somehow got reassigned back home.

His buddies supposedly packed up the gear he left behind, to include a Glock that he had received as a gift.

Not sure about the accuracy of the story, but I can think of any number of ways to acquire a firearm without bringing it out youself.

According to one of the stories at the button of the first link he said in court that he brought it home and was going to de-mil it as a momento and forgot that he had it.

Amazing..... this is how Freedom is destroyed and communism takes over. A very sad state of affairs indeed. And crime continues to soar...... good luck over there.

Crime isn't that bad an issue apart from the larger cities, and most of it is gang related. It's the same as most countries, we have a fractured and divided government that has a serious mess to try and clean up. The police are underfunded and have to much red tape to work around. The SAS guy made a serious mistake, tried to bring mental health issues into it and attempted to use a respected regiments reputation to manipulate the press and the legal system.

Hard to imagine Churchill's Britain standing for this. I wonder how long the country can keep up its strong military tradition when they punish their warriors for doing nothing (morally) wrong.
