The statue of Dick Meadows at Fort Bragg shows him carrying a large knife. What is it, a smatchet? :munchin

RL, I've stood right there and looked at the same knife. They wouldn't let me try to pull it out to look at. No it isn't a smatchet.

? KaBar ? looks like it has that handle/grip of wrapped leather

Randall Model 16? I base this guess off the sheath style, finger grooves in the handle and straight, flat guard. Of course, the full tang poking out the back end with lanyard hole isn't standard, but it could have been a variant.

Randall's always had a metal cap on the end of the stacked leather handles. Is this what your seeing? I agree with you on the Randle style sheath.

I agree with Randall, possibly a Randall #2. Different sheath.

Randall, IMHO.

Looks like a Randall Model 14 "Attack" with a modified end cap to me, maybe for a dummy cord.

Definitely a Randall sheath, and my guess is a model 14.
