Ian Thompson's story makes one want to puke. Three guys wearing facemasks and carrying molotov cocktails paid him a visit one night. After spotting the individuals, Ian ran into his house and got his side arm. Being a firearms instructor - who was familiar with the gun laws in Canada - he was well trained with his firearm and when he came out of his house he fired a warning shot into the ground and the hooligans fled. Ian then went to the police to make a report and was then charged for pointing his gun at a person and for discharging it. He went to court and eventually was aquitted. Unfortunately Ian was left to pay for his legal fees - while the crown was paid for by the government. From what I understand he is now in considerable debt and owes over fifty thousand dollars.

Beware of any gun registry too. Ours was supposed to cost a couple million and ended up costing over a billion. And the kicker was it did nothing to curb any gun violence and ended up just hurting the law abiding gun owner.
