Chinese Land Fighter Jet on Carrier
CNN is reporting that the Chinese have reported the successful landing of a fighter jet on refurbished Soviet style aircraft carrier. This does not bode well.
The foreign policy void that is being created by the reluctance/inability of the current administration is going to be filled and it would appear that the Chinese have designs on that role. And Obama wants to nominate Rice for SOS and Kerry for SOD  |
Well if anyone would know what the ChiComs are doing I would put money on CNN!

Great.
Now let's see them do it at night with a loaded deck, under all weather conditions, tactically. I guess you have to crawl first though. TR |
As I have personally witnessed numerous times, you can "Land" many things in/on "Places" that you can't get them out of!!!

Due to the fact that they're obviously still in the crawl stage, I'm really not concerned about this at all. If they want to land planes on old Soviet rust buckets, by all means. I'm sure that our Naval fleet would love the opportunity to get into a fight with that carrier.

Aircraqft carrier?
No, it couldn't be an aircraft carrier. It was sold to a group of investors in China to be made into a floating casino. Why, they said it had no military purpose at all. Can't be an aircraft carrier, unless the Chinese were lying. |
Disinformation -
And from that carrier landing nex-gen of wannabe world landlords: Quote:

Richard-
Laughing myself silly over the Onion story :D Where has critical thinking gone? No damn wonder we are getting ourselves into a mess. Doesn't anyone realize that 99% of the crap Tweeted on Twitter comes from Twits? Great post though {Salute} |
Think Japan in the 1930s. Both they and us were laying flight decks over re-purposed ships then. Back in the 90s I had a professor tell my class that the 21st century would be China's century just as the 20th was America's. The USA seems to work on a four year election cycle. I suspect China has a 50 and 100 year plan. They don't worry about the next election. How far out does our country plan for our national future and survival? Does anyone else remember when both major American political parties put the nation first? So, yeah, today China landing a plane on a ship is no big deal. But who thought that when Eugen Ely landed on the USS Pennsylvania in 1911 that we would have carrier battle groups 30 years later and would rule the seas for 70 years more?
