Y vs HESCO? - IDF seeking to purchase new portable forts

IDF seeking to purchase new portable forts

"Called Y-Fort, new system can be erected independently by small military units, protect them during operations inside enemy territory............."

&

".......The IDF is evaluating the YFort as a possible replacement for the current mobile fort systems it uses, made by Britain’s HESCO. The IDF said the older systems require heavy machinery to erect their roofs, while the new models can be built independently by soldiers................."

Looks like really big sandbags with a fancy roof structure to me. Without heavy equipment still looks like more than a ton's worth of grunt work to set up one.

This was an interesting additional take.

Recently an IOF official, 91st Division Brigadier-General Hertzi Halevy, told journalists openly that they are planning for another war with Lebanon.

Still requires a LOT of sand. (anything else and you've aimed improvised Claymores at yourself). If you want to fill them fast you'll need machinery (or lots of HN workers).
Still seems like it's in the"hundred-pounds-of-high-speed-light-weight-stuff-still-weighs-100-pounds" catagory.

Big sandbags! Put a big hole in one and it will leak sand just as quickly as you can refill it.

Modular Protective Systems (MPS)

These seem to be great replacements for HESCOs.

Currently testing going on in Afghanistan. No need to fill them, if the VSP moves you pack them up in their TRICON and sling load them off. I've seen video of these in a Mortar protective pit taking 107mm, 82mm, 81mm, RPG, 7.62 rounds with no effects on interior.

wonder how well the well with stand someone driving into it. I like my hesco walls around the VSP. Now if only I could have gotten the locals to cover them with mud to blend in with the other village buildings.

We dont seem to get much air movement support where Iam and only going to get worse with the draw down.
